9th of October 2019— Student athletes from St. Mary’s College of Tagum Inc. gathers with the remaining schools who qualify for the Catholic Schools Athletic Association (CSAA) Meet to celebrate the festivity of sportsmanship and camaraderie as the CSAA kicks start this morning.
SMC’s pride Marian Hawks showcases hearts and glory high as they represent unit two along with Assumption Academy of Mawab, Cor Jesu Mabini and Letran de Davao of Maco opposing 11 other schools all over Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro during the opening ceremony held at Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex.
Along with the theme ‘Through sports: Yes, YOUth can’, Diocesan Apostolate on Catholic Education of Tagum (DACET) Rev. Father Richell Fuentes welcomed the catholic athlete learners ephasizing CSAA as ‘an athletic event necessary towards learners’ holistic development’.
“Sports competition instill the sense of discipline among student athletes,” Fuentes stated while highlighting ‘athletes develop important values such as loyalty, perseverance, friendship and solidarity.”
Reverant Fr. Tomas Avila Jr, DACET Superintended offically open the said sports activity and proceeded with a Holy Eucharist Mass.
The 3-day CSAA meet winners will represent the cluster for the upcoming Davao Associstion of Catholic Schools (DACS) Sportsfest 2019.
