Academic Standards
Students Academic Load
- Regular student - 18 and above number of units
- The number of loads allowed per semester as indicated in the course curriculum.
- Students should take the required subjects by curriculum year. Advance subjects may be taken only after passing the basic and corresponding pre-requisite subjects. Any subject taken ahead of its pre-requisite will not be given any credit and the student will be required to repeat the subject.
- Religious Education:
- Catholics-12 units (Reed 1 to 4)
- Non-Catholics -9 units
Changing, Adding and Dropping of Subject/s
- Changing/Adding/Dropping of subjects is permitted only within the first week of regular classes.
- Dropping may be allowed only on the following reasons:
- Conflict of schedule
- Change of course
- Employment
Cross-enrollment
Cross-enrollment is a special permission granted on a case to case basis to a graduating student if his/her subjects needed is not offered in his school, or is in conflict with other subject/s.
Summer Permit
Summer Permit is granted to a student whose subject needed is not offered in St. Mary's College during summer session. A student maybe allowed to carry a maximum of nine (9) units.
Examination
Four examinations are given in a semester in all programs, three times for periodical examination and one for monthly examination. All students are required to present an admission card to their respective teachers. Examination schedules are announced one week before the examination days. Students with conflicts in their examination schedules should inform their teachers about it so that adjustments could be made. Within this period, the students are required to secure admission cards from the College Cashier. The students should secure their admission cards on the scheduled days. Admission cards for examinations are returned to the Cashier's Office after the scheduled examination days. Failure to return the examination permit within 12 working days after the scheduled examination shall mean a sanction of Fifty Pesos (Php50).
Special examination
Special examination is granted to the student if he/she missed to take the examination on the scheduled time on valid reasons:
- 6.1 Conflict of schedule
- 6.2 Serious illness
- 6.3 Death of any immediate member of the family
- 6.4 Victim of calamities
- 6.5 School representative to attend off-campus activities
Students who failed to take the scheduled examination due to the valid reasons cited above are given 3 school days upon return to class to take the special examination.
Any student caught cheating in any examination shall be given a failing mark. The following are considered acts of cheating:
- Looking at somebody's paper
- Receiving written codes from others
- Talking and whispering to others during examinations
