SMCT Strengthens Proper School Uniform Implementation
The St. Mary's College of Tagum, Incorporated administration strictly reminded the Marian student body to keep to the Marian tradition of wearing the proper school uniform as the school itself embraces school year 2013-2014 with enhancements and changes in infrastructure and staffing both teaching and nonteaching.
According to Mr. Erwin L. Sabornido, Master of Arts in Theology and Student Affairs Coordinator, he observed that the Marians were slowly forgetting and disobeying the rules regarding proper grooming inside the school. Hence, he reinforced the said regulation to maintain the Marian identity which shows decency, integrity, politeness and obedience.
According to the handbook, the proper male student attire must consist of a plain-white, short-sleeved polo, maong pants or slacks, and rubber or black leather shoes. Also, the recommended length of hair is at two-bythree inches or an army cut, but hair length exceeding this measure can be considered as long as the hair is an inch from the head and will not cover the ears, and/or the back of the neck. It is strictly prohibited to wear earrings and have piercings in any other part of the body
As for the female, the proper student attire is composed of a plain-white, short-sleeved blouse with baby collar; a royal blue necktie with the embroidered initials "SMC"; a double pleated royal blue skirt that extends two inches above the knee; and black school shoes with one or two-inch h e e l s . In addition, multiple piercings a n d dangling earrings are prohibited and the blouse must always be tucked in.
During washdays, Marians are still reminded to be mindful of their clothing. Prohibitions during wash-days include: wearing of sandals or any flat shoes, or shoes with heels exceeding two inches; see-through and skin-tight attires.
For all Marians, dyed hair, heavy make-up and wearing of contact lenses are not allowed while the wearing of the SMCT ID with the new sling is a must for every school day.
Each account of disobedience of the proper uniform policy will be recorded as a minor offense. First commission will be reprimanded thru oral warning, second commission of any two minor offenses is given a written warning and multiple repetitions of offenses of the same nature will finally lead to suspension.
The SMCT administration is hoping that the wearing of the proper school uniform will always be put in the mind.
